Torval has a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of British Columbia. His careers in both music and film production have provided him with a vast array of hands on experiences, resulting in many opportunities to experiment with different equipment, unusual materials and talented collaborators. Prior to his focusing on the photographic medium, Torval had a long stretch of creating large mixed media works on canvas. He still remains active in the music industry, providing consultation and releasing albums under the name Krom Labs (www.kromlabs.com). His most recent album It's Them Again, released July 2024, is available from Google Play, iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, Spotify and Beatport, along with his album It’s Not You It’s Them from 2017. He currently lives in Calgary with his wife Jennifer and son Isaac.
